For a decade, Burlington and AdoptAClassroom.org’s award-winning partnership has empowered students in high-needs schools with the learning supplies they need.
Burlington stores across the country have raised money for AdoptAClassroom.org through their annual back-to-school fundraising campaign. Over the past 10 years, Burlington and their customers have donated more than $15.5 million to adopt classrooms in their stores’ communities nationwide.
Their generosity has already provided school supplies to more than 1.5 million students, and that number will grow as Burlington invites its customers to join in this year’s campaign.
From July 27, 2026, to September 3, 2026, Burlington invites customers to support AdoptAClassroom.org by rounding up their purchase at checkout. Donations made at your local Burlington store help ensure students have the resources they need for a great educational experience.
Burlington Donations Bring Joy to Students
Becki is a kindergarten teacher at one of the 8,300+ high-needs schools adopted by Burlington. After 20 years in education, she’s no stranger to the difficulties of funding a classroom herself. In her words:
“There’s no student who comes with everything that they need, from papers to pencils, markers, glue, magnet letters, books. Ultimately, those things fall on the teacher, and I’m constantly buying, preparing, repairing materials; it’s just never-ending.”
With her unexpected donation from her local Burlington in 2025, Becki created the dedicated art space she’d been dreaming of for her classroom. Silicone mats provide an easy-to-clean space to paint, and a drying rack keeps students’ art off the bookshelves and rug. The art station allows students like Hunter to creatively express their feelings and develop fine motor skills while having fun.

First-grade dual language teacher Ruben does his best to make learning engaging for his students, as well. He promises them, “We work hard, and we’ll play hard too.”
But it’s been harder for Ruben to afford classroom materials recently. While inflation drives the price of supplies up, his school-provided classroom budget has been reduced. Before the pandemic, Ruben was given $350 each year for supplies; now it’s $175 a year.
Support from Burlington helped Ruben stock up on the classroom essentials like folders, tissues and disinfectant wipes. Costs that he probably would have paid for out of his own pocket otherwise. He also purchased math kits with several engaging manipulatives to get his students excited about problem-solving. The whiteboards and dry-erase markers in them are a particular hit; students love being able to give immediate answers and feedback.
Ruben knows from experience that the impact of Burlington’s donation will last far beyond this year. In 2018, Burlington donated new coats for Ruben to distribute to students in need. One student experiencing poverty was so excited to be given “a fancy jacket from Burlington” that he wore it all the time – even after he outgrew it.
For that student, it was more than a jacket; it was a sign that someone believed in them enough to donate to their future.
