Named a 2018 Halo Award Winner

Local Minneapolis Non-profit and National Retailer Burlington Takes GOLD in Education Category

Minneapolis, MN — May 24, 2018 —, the national nonprofit that raises funds for teachers to purchase classroom supplies, today announced it was named the 2018 GOLD Halo Award Winner in the Education Category. The award-winning nonprofit partnered with Burlington Stores during the 2017-2018 school year for their Team Up to Support Teachers campaign.

On July 9, 2017 through August 19, 2017, Burlington conducted a fundraising campaign at point of sale, inviting customers to donate in support of and teachers nationwide. The 599 Burlington stores raised more than $1.55 million which benefited 3000 teachers and 75,000 students in Burlington communities across the country. Additionally, for each of the 72 new stores Burlington opened during the fall 2017 and spring 2018, Burlington donated $10,000 to a school within close proximity to a new store. Each of the 72 schools divided the funds equally among their teachers.

“We are honored to be recognized alongside Burlington for the work we did together this past year to support teachers across the country,” said Executive Director Ann Pifer. “It has become expected of teachers to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars of their own money each year on supplies for their classrooms and students, and it’s just not right. We are grateful to Burlington for once again teaming up with us to fund even more classrooms this upcoming 2018-2019 school year.”

“The Halo Awards were created to acknowledge the best in class corporate social impact programs. This year’s winners are fantastic representation of the effective and innovative ways companies and causes can work together to create meaningful business and social returns,” said Engage for Good President David Hessekiel.

The Halo Awards are North America’s highest honor for corporate social initiatives and cause marketing and presented by Engage for Good (formerly Cause Marketing Forum). 2018 marks the 16th year that Engage for Good will honor businesses and nonprofits with Halos for doing well by doing good.

A total of 28 category awards will be given out to programs judged the best cause marketing campaigns of 2017 at the 16th Annual Engage for Good conference in Chicago on May 24, 2018.
