This month, Lenovo kicks off the Lenovo Teacher Giveaway, a 13-month sweepstakes with AdoptAClassroom.org. The global personal technology company is one of our newest vendor partners

Each month for 12 months (now through August 2021), the public is invited to nominate PreK-12 teachers for the chance to win a $1,000 grant on AdoptAClassroom.org to purchase school supplies. Each month, two teachers will be randomly selected to win $1,000 each. All nominated teachers will be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing as well.

The Grand Prize will be awarded in September 2021. One teacher will be randomly selected to win a $2,500 grant on AdoptAClassroom.org, and a Lenovo notebook computer of their choice!

Do you have special teachers in your life? You can nominate as many teachers as you’d like throughout the sweepstakes! Irene P., a kindergarten teacher in Las Vegas, NV is one of the lucky winning teachers.

Lenovo’s support is coming at a crucial time for our nation’s K-12 teachers and students. Even in the midst of a global pandemic, and often with limited resources, teachers continue to go above and beyond for their students to keep them engaged in their learning. According to our recent Teacher Spending Survey of nearly 4,000 teachers nationwide, teachers spent an average of $252 out-of-pocket this past spring to purchase additional materials and tools they needed to be successful with distance learning.

To meet their students’ needs this school year, teachers need flexible funding and access to technology more than ever before. Nearly half of teachers need technology for their own homes, while a majority of teachers, 59%, need technology for their students this fall.

When we began distance learning, many of my students struggled due to the lack of available technology. Not being able to communicate as readily as possible made it difficult to teach. Our school is quite small, we have less than 200 students, but very few of them have the ability to connect from home. Lack of technology should not be something that stands in the way of our students and the education they deserve, yet right now, it hinders it more than it should.

With flexible funding provided by Lenovo on AdoptAClassroom.org, teachers will be able to purchase tools and materials they need to make learning accessible for their students so they can succeed, whether they are learning in the classroom or from home.

“I’m in my home office sitting in my new chair, typing on my new keyboard, and wearing my earbuds to help amplify sound! I have significant hearing loss and am at home teaching virtually until masks can be removed to help with sound barriers. My laptop is lifted for a better angle with the stand I purchased! Under my feet sits my printer atop its new stand! I am much better prepared for my job all because of the products I was able to purchase! Can’t thank you enough Lenovo!”
