Lenovo’s support is coming at a crucial time for our nation’s K-12 teachers and students. Even in the midst of a global pandemic, and often with limited resources, teachers continue to go above and beyond for their students to keep them engaged in their learning. According to our recent Teacher Spending Survey of nearly 4,000 teachers nationwide, teachers spent an average of $252 out-of-pocket this past spring to purchase additional materials and tools they needed to be successful with distance learning.
To meet their students’ needs this school year, teachers need flexible funding and access to technology more than ever before. Nearly half of teachers need technology for their own homes, while a majority of teachers, 59%, need technology for their students this fall.
When we began distance learning, many of my students struggled due to the lack of available technology. Not being able to communicate as readily as possible made it difficult to teach. Our school is quite small, we have less than 200 students, but very few of them have the ability to connect from home. Lack of technology should not be something that stands in the way of our students and the education they deserve, yet right now, it hinders it more than it should.– 2020 Teacher Spending Survey Respondent
