How to Use Your School Profile Page to Fundraise

If your school has a Public-Facing Profile Page on AdoptAClassroom.org, there are dozens of ways you can use it to reach potential donors and ask for their support. 

Here are a few ideas, including examples you can copy and paste to share on social media, via email, and more! 

Note: We encourage you to customize the messaging to represent your school and its needs as clearly as possible. 


1. Post the link to your School Profile Page on social media

If your school uses social media to share information and news with your students, parents, staff, and/or the broader community, consider using social media to share the link to your School Profile Page.

Your post should explain why you are fundraising for your school, and include a clear call to action, such as “Click the link below to donate to our school today.” 


Here are two examples you can use:

Tomorrow’s graduates need supplies today. Donations to our school’s AdoptAClassroom.org page will help us better equip our school with the materials our students need to learn and succeed. To learn more about what our school needs, and to donate, click the link below. Thank you for your support. [Insert the link to your School Profile Page]

Our school is raising money for [explain in 1-2 sentences how you intend to spend the funds]. Please consider supporting our school today. Your gift, big or small, would mean so much to our school community, and directly benefit our students. To make your donation so we can ensure our students have access to the materials they need to learn and succeed, click the link below. Thank you for your support. [Insert the link to your School Profile Page]

Tip: Post a link to your School Profile Page on your personal social networks, too. Ask your friends and family to share the link and/or your post with their social networks. 


2. Mention your school is fundraising on AdoptAClassroom.org in your newsletter or bulletin

Your school’s newsletter or bulletin is a great place to share that your school is fundraising on AdoptAClassroom.org. 

Feel free to use this sample copy in your communications to your school community: 

[School Name] is fundraising on AdoptAClassroom.org for the resources we need to be successful as a school. We chose AdoptAClassrom.org because they are a national, award-winning nonprofit that provides the most flexible and accountable funding for K-12 teachers and schools throughout the U.S.

If you would like to support our school in this way, please visit our school’s AdoptAClassroom.org fundraising page here: [Insert the link to your School Profile Page]. You can make a tax-deductible donation there that will be available immediately to our school. 

You can also share the link to our fundraising page with people you know who may be interested in supporting our school. Thank you for your support.  


3. Send an email or letter to local business owners, and/or other community members

Emails and letters offer a great opportunity to tell your school’s unique story, and get specific about what your school needs. 


Here’s an example you can use:

Dear [Name],

I am reaching out to you today to ask you to support [School Name]. [Describe a project your school would like to implement, talk about your school’s specific needs, or tell a story about your school. Please be as specific as possible about how you plan to spend the donations your school receives].

Transparency and accountability are important to us, so we are collecting donations through AdoptAClassroom.org, a national, award-winning nonprofit that provides the most flexible and accountable funding for K-12 teachers and schools throughout the U.S.

Your tax-deductible donation, big or small, will help us purchase the resources our students deserve, so they can dream big and succeed.

Click here [insert the link to your School Profile Page] to learn more about what our school needs, and to make a donation. If you would prefer to mail your gift, please use the attached form. [Enclose or attach the offline donation form as an alternative to online donations].

Tip: If you’re sending an email, attach a video and/or photos to enhance your message.  If your photos and/or video include students, please make sure you have the proper permissions before sharing

4. Put a link to your School Profile Page on your school’s website

Use your school’s homepage to mention that your school is raising funds on AdoptAClassroom.org, and include a link to your School Profile Page to encourage people to learn more and donate.

Tip: You can also include a link to your School Profile Page in your email signature block.
