At AdoptAClassroom.org, we are committed to providing teachers and principals with what they need to reach their students. In this unprecedented time, we have been challenged to think of new ways we can support distance learning.
We have always provided flexible funding to teachers so they can purchase what they need, when they need it. This option is even more important for educators right now. You can still use AdoptAClassroom.org to fundraise for the resources you need and access those donations immediately online. We will work with you as best we can to get you supplies quickly during this time, while upholding the standards we promise our donors for transparency of how funds are spent.
However, we know that shipping to schools is a challenge right now. That’s why we are modifying our existing tools to help supplies and materials reach you.
Here are some frequently asked questions from educators right now:
My school is closed right now but I need things. How can I order materials with my existing funds?
Educators are advised to not place new orders if their school office may be closed and unable to receive deliveries. You have two options in this case:
- Donations expire 12 months after they are received. If your funds are about to expire, you can request a two-month extension of your funds by emailing [email protected].
- If there is a location in your district where we can mail packages, such as a district office or a school that is receiving mail at this time, please email us at [email protected] and we will temporarily update your shipping address to that location. Do not place an order until your address is updated.
We understand no solution is “one size fits all” at this time. If either of these options do not work for you, please contact [email protected] to discuss other ways we can ship items to you.
My funds are about to expire, but things are changing so rapidly right now. I don’t know what I need yet. Can I extend them?
Yes! If your funds are expiring soon, you may request a two-month extension of your funds by emailing [email protected].
I want to use my funds to purchase a virtual resource for my students, can I do that?
Yes, we do allow out-of-network purchases for items you need that are not available on the AdoptAClassroom.org marketplace. Contact [email protected] to confirm the items meet our out-of-network policy. Please remember that we charge a fee for these purchases. Learn more here.

Can I apply for your Disaster Relief Fund?
Due to shipping concerns, our Disaster Relief Fund for COVID-19 currently prioritizes grants to high-needs districts with comprehensive distance learning plans already in place. We are working with districts to put supplies in the hands of students in classrooms that need it most. We will announce a call for grant applications from high-needs teachers during the summer months. Teacher grants will be disbursed in the fall.
