Art Institutes Honors Teachers During Teacher Appreciation Week

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, The Art Institutes and acknowledged nine Twin Cities teachers for their outstanding work. South High School, Patrick Henry High School, and Highland Park High School each received a $1000 donation to purchase supplies for their honored teachers’ classrooms.

The Arts Institutes International Minneapolis President Jennifer Sorenson and Executive Director Ann Ness presented each school with a $1,000 check at an event on the Ai campus, and applauded the teachers for the hard work they do on a daily basis.

Twin Cities students attended the event to celebrate their teachers, who were selected because of their dedication to promoting a positive learning environment in the classroom.

Attendees were invited to paint a mural designed by Ai Minnesota alumnus Shane Anderson. The afternoon ended with prizes such as art supplies supported by Blick.

The $1,000 donated to each school represents the 20 percent of U.S. teachers who spend at least $1,000 each year to purchase needed supplies for their classrooms. With help from The Art Institutes, these nine teachers won’t have to worry about a lack of supplies, and can focus their attention on teaching.
