CalEdAssist, the grantmaking nonprofit organization, is flash-funding 40 public school teachers across California on AdoptAClassroom.org. Thanks to CalEdAssist’s generosity, each teacher will receive a $1,000 donation to purchase school supplies for their classrooms.
California teachers spend more out of pocket on their classrooms than the average educator. Golden State educators purchase $991.61 worth of classroom supplies each year, compared to an average of $895 for teachers nationwide.
Teachers want their students to thrive so much that they spend their own money to make it happen. Despite sometimes causing financial strain, 81% of teachers surveyed said their main motivation for spending out-of-pocket on their classroom was the desire for every student to have the same opportunities.
CalEdAssist is on a mission to empower public school students and educators by making sure classrooms are equipped with the supplies they need to thrive.
Support from committed partners like CalEdAssist not only helps improve student outcomes but also makes teachers feel more supported. Nine in ten teachers say that support from organizations like AdoptAClassroom.org positively influences them to keep teaching.
We couldn’t support classrooms without our generous funders like CalEdAssist.
