Teacher Resources for International Literacy Day

Literacy is essential for students to grow into vibrant adult lives. International Literacy Day, September 8, was declared by UNESCO in 1967 and highlights the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights. To help teachers increase literacy in their classroom, AdoptAClassroom.org has assembled some resources for elementary classrooms.

Free Teacher Leader Resources Now Available!

AdoptAClassroom.org’s Teacher Leaders include educators from across the country who share their expertise and teaching experience with the wider AdoptAClassroom.org educational community.

We just launched this program, so you can now access these free resources from fellow educators by logging in to your AdoptAClassroom.org account and clicking over to “Teacher Resource Library.” You can find a step-by-step video on how to access our Teacher Leader resources on our YouTube channel.

Once there, you can find resources like Teacher Leader Shellie Sallas-Leveratt’s “Teaching Literacy & Growth Mindset with Art” for grades K-1.

Resources from Teacher Leaders are provided by our Spotlight Funds, which support areas/school subjects of greater need.
