KKR is making classroom wishes a reality for teachers in communities across Indiana, Missouri and New York with AdoptAClassroom.org this giving season.
They surprised special education teachers in high-needs elementary schools by flash-funding their classrooms with a donation to fully meet their fundraising goal and thank them for their dedication to public service.
For too long, teachers have had to purchase classroom materials with their own money so they can do their job and help students thrive. Teachers spend an average of $895 out of pocket on supplies for students each year, a figure that has grown nearly 50% over the past decade.
Special education teachers often spend even more on classroom materials to adapt lessons and meet their students’ individual learning needs.
This isn’t the first time KKR has teamed up with AdoptAClassroom.org to support teachers with the greatest need. Their continual support highlights their commitment to helping our teachers reach their fundraising goals so their students can learn and succeed in school.
KKR’s History of Supporting Education with AdoptAClassroom.org
Following Hurricanes Milton and Helene in 2024, as well as the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, the firm matched donations to AdoptAClassroom.org’s Natural Disaster Fund. KKR’s generosity helped teachers replace destroyed classroom materials and create a smoother recovery process for students.
Additionally, this year during Teacher Appreciation Week, KKR surprised public school teachers in Chicago, IL; Minneapolis, MN; and Tulsa, OK, by fully funding their classroom pages. This unexpected gift allowed teachers to stock up on classroom essentials.
One teacher shared with KKR:
“I changed careers and this is my first year teaching. There is so much to learn, and how to obtain resources is a big part of being a teacher, especially when I had chosen to be in a low-income school. Sometimes I think a considerable amount of my paycheck is left in the classroom buying snacks, clothing, lotion, blankets, pillows, art supplies, etc. But thanks to your generosity, we will have a classroom with comfort covering needs for the little ones.”
If you want to join KKR in fulfilling classroom wishes, donate to AdoptAClassroom.org, and we’ll direct your gift where it’s needed most. Or find a teacher in your local community and give directly to their classroom.
