August is Subaru Loves Learning month. Once again, Subaru has teamed up with AdoptAClassroom.org to help schools and students in need. Subaru and its retailers are funding classrooms in their local communities across the country to equip students with the learning tools they need to thrive in school.
Subaru’s Support Is More Essential Than Ever
AdoptAClassroom.org’s 2023 Teacher Spending Survey found that teachers’ out-of-pocket spending on school supplies has increased 14% (or $110) since 2021. Teachers now spend an average of $860 each year on classroom materials necessary for learning.
The median classroom supply budget provided to teachers by their school is only $200. That’s just $8 per student in a classroom of 25 for the school year.
Subaru and its retailers are funding teachers to offset the financial burden they feel from equipping their classrooms and students. This school year the retailers’ cumulative support means they will have put the much-needed learning tools and materials into the hands of nearly half a million students.
School Supplies Make a Monumental Difference
Heidi M. is a first-grade teacher in Pennsylvania whose school has received support from their local Subaru retailer for the past three years. With her donation, Heidi was able to completely transform her classroom to support student learning.
Catie T., a second-grade teacher in Michigan, is at a rapidly-growing Title 1 community school. Rather than worrying about where the supplies are going to come from, the donation from her local Subaru retailer provided her with security to know she can provide materials for every one of her students.
Thanks to Subaru and its retailers, thousands of teachers like Catie and Heidi have the materials they need to create an engaging and safe learning environment.
