Thank You Burlington Stores For Three Successful Years of Supporting Classrooms

Burlington Stores raised more than $2 million this back-to-school season for classrooms coast to coast.

We want to give a huge shout out to Burlington Stores and all of their 45,000 associates across the country for partnering with AdoptAClassroom.org for the third year in a row. It is because of your dedication and hard work that we are putting more supplies in the hands of more students in our K-12 schools. To date, our GOLD Halo Award-winning campaign with Burlington has raised more than $5.5 million!

To illustrate the impact of Burlington’s award-winning back-to-school campaign on AdoptAClassroom.org and the teachers we serve, AdoptAClassroom.org interviewed one of Burlngton’s adopted teachers. Read below to better understand the difference Burlington’s is making in education.

Danielle’s New York City dance classroom represents one of the 34,800 classrooms adopted by Burlington across the country since 2017. She continues to be incredibly grateful for Burlington’s donation and their surprise visit to her school with Oscar winning, actor and activist Common, Danielle saw the immediate impact on her students and the improved morale at her high-needs school.

We talked to Danielle about her need of funding and the impact of Burlington’s back-to-school donation. Here’s what she had to say:

AdoptAClassroom.org (AAC): Do you spend your own money on school supplies during the school year?

Danielle: During the back-to-school season alone, I spend an average of $600 on classroom essentials.

AAC: What do you purchase during the back-to-school season to prepare for the new school year?

Danielle: I buy my personal agenda, folders, notebooks, index cards, pens, pencils, tape, glue, thumbtacks, staples, colored pencils, crayons, and markers for students who are unable to purchase them. There’s also the many types of paper my classrooms needs like, loose leaf, cardstock, bulletin board, notebook, construction, and copy paper. I also purchase all of the cleaning supplies for the dance studio.

AAC: What impact has AdoptAClassroom.org and Burlington had on your students?

Danielle: AdoptAClassroom.org and Burlington Stores have inspired my students and given them hope that their artistic dreams can become a reality with hard work and perseverance. The surprise $10,000 adoption has given all of our school’s teachers the ability to teach with more passion and rigor. Teachers feel less stress worrying about funding and more time to put into their instruction which creates a better learning experience for everyone. We are able to meet our students’ basic educational needs right from the onset of the school year. Many of them refer to our school as their second home. The supplies we purchased with the donation will continue to educate our students throughout the year.

AAC: If you didn’t spend your own money or receive Burlington’s donation for supplies, how would it affect your students?

Danielle: My students would lack basic necessities to get them through the school day which would inhibit their learning capacities. My instruction would also not be at its best and therefore, I would not be giving all learners proper access to the material. This would leave me without pride and satisfaction because I would know that it is hindering my student’s success and potential for greatness.

Thank you Burlington for funding amazing classrooms like Danielle’s. Each year, your support fills the supply gap for thousands of classrooms across the country. You’re making a meaningful impact that doesn’t go unnoticed by the lives you’ve touched these past three years.
