If you intend to crowdfund on AdoptAClassroom.org, you need to create a Public-Facing Profile Page for your school. To do so, we require an approval letter from your district, or the appropriate senior level executive, that clearly states that you have authorization to fundraise on behalf of your school. Once your School Profile Page is public-facing, it will be visible on our website so donors across the country can learn more about your school and fundraising needs. You can also share and promote your page to ask your school’s community of parents, family, friends, local business owners, and others to donate.

Why is an approval letter needed for Public-Facing School Profile Pages?
The school-wide nature of these projects, and the fact that they frequently include technology or other long-term assets inside a school, means that district and/or senior executive-level approval will be required for many of the items purchased as the result of these fundraising efforts. Also, many districts have policies regarding who is permitted to fundraise on behalf of a school. Our goal is to be a good partner for schools and districts. Requiring this approval letter ensures there is communication between the school and the district, or the appropriate senior level executives, before any fundraising begins.

How to Submit Your Approval Letter
You can create your own letter, or you can copy and paste one of the below templates for public, private, or charter schools. The language of the letter does not have to match these templates exactly, but they provide an example of acceptable language. Please note the specific instructions for each type of school. Your letter will not be accepted if it does not meet the requirements outlined for your school type.

Once signed by the appropriate authorizer, upload your letter by logging into your account and clicking on the “Update School Profile Page” button. Then, click the “Upload Files/Or drop files” button near the upper left of the page.

Please email [email protected] if you have questions.
