How to Ask for Donations
to Your Classroom
The “About My Classroom” Section:
Introduce yourself and describe your students. Personalize your classroom page with unique details that can help donors feel connected to your class. This could be something positive about your students or a challenge your classroom is facing.
When talking about students, be sure to protect their privacy by just saying “a student.”

The “What We Need” Section:
Mention items or types of items that donations would allow you to purchase. Help donors understand the importance of supplies and materials for meaningful instruction.

The “Why We Need Your Help” Section:
Describe the impact that having the supplies you need would make. Share at least one positive outcome that you expect from the supplies ordered with AdoptAClassroom.org donations.
This is also a great place to thank the donor for their support.

Add Images:
Photos help donors connect to the classroom they’re about to support.
Teachers can include photos in a variety of ways on their AdoptAClassroom.org Classroom Page. Upload both a profile photo and a banner photo before you ask for donations, and be sure to add photos to your update posts.
Profile Photo
For your profile photo, upload a photo, Memoji/Bitmoji or other illustration depicting you. School photos work great for this!

Banner Image
A good banner photo will represent your classroom, school, or subject area, plus be clear and attention-grabbing. Think about what you’d use as your banner on social media, for guidance.

Update Photos
In the “Updates” section of your classroom page, you can post messages, photos or videos.
After you purchase supplies with donations you’ve received, post a photo of what you purchased so current and potential donors can see how donations benefit you and your students.
