#PackYourBag: Make Employee Giving Work for You

What is the easiest and most powerful way to get more classroom donations? It’s not printing flyers or posting to Facebook. It’s tapping into the power of employee giving. With employee giving, donations come to you every few weeks automatically, making it one of the most consistent ways to get funding.

Reaching Out

The organizations below already support employee donations to AdoptAClassroom.org. Just reach out to the human resources department and explain that you’d like to find a way to let interested employees send their donations directly to your classroom. HR will let you know the next steps, which will vary depending on the company.

Don’t Limit Yourself

Of course, there are thousands of other companies not listed above that support some kind of employee giving programs or are open to discussing the topic. If you’d like to approach other employers, that’s great!

Here are some tips for getting the ball rolling:

  • Do Some Research. Try to see if the company you’re approaching already has some sort of employee giving program. Doing your homework will make you sound better informed when you reach out.
  • Ask! Contact the human resources department and discuss your classroom needs and the benefits of employee giving.
  • Communicate the Benefits. It’s imperative to explain why an employer should set up an employee giving program to support your classroom. Here are some hard-hitting reasons why employee giving is great for organizations:
    • Foster a corporate culture of social responsibility
    • Strengthen team morale
    • Increase in positive brand awareness
    • Attract and retain civic-minded employees
    • Contribute to a local community in need (if the company is located in your city or town)
    • Change children’s lives!

Using employee giving programs is a powerful way to ensure your classroom gets funded again and again. It might sound like a lot of work, but it can really pay off in the end!
