I teach alternative students who have been sent to our school from the other high schools in Virginia Beach due to a variety of issues including truancy, fighting, drugs, continued disruption and not following rules, etc. Many of our students are from disadvantaged homes and therefore cannot always afford school supplies that would enrich our class activities. The majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch and often ask for food or snacks on a regular basis. It can become quite costly to buy supplies for numerous creative, hands-on projects that my students enjoy. Many are very creative and enjoy making visual projects in my Marketing and Fashion classes.
