Our school has a constructivist philosophy. We want our students to naturally discover concepts and form knowledge based on common experiences they have in the classroom. In order to support students in this type of learning, students need access to various reading materials at different reading levels. Students in my class range in all reading levels, English proficiencies, and emotional and mental challenges. We will use donations to add to our classroom library for students to explore different reading genres, including math, science, and social studies books that go beyond textbooks. Our goal is for students to cultivate their reading lives by viewing reading not as a means of doing well on a test, but as a natural way for people to feed their curiosities.
