I have studied a great deal about what makes students successful in reading. I want my students to be successful in reading so that they may successful in all other curricular areas, and in their futures as well. This year I have worked extremely hard to develop a reading program that no only teaches the skills of reading, but helps students to appreciate and grow in their love for reading as well. I had a student who told me last year he only read three books, to reading eight books this quarter alone! I think that all teachers need to share their own thoughts and opinions about books and help students LOVE to read. That being said, I have worked really hard to build a classroom library this year. Every point that I have gotten from Scholastic has been used in my room to order books, and I have spent much of my own money to purchase books as well. I feel that I am continuously getting behind on what my students WANT to read though, and want to be able to better serve them by having bo
