Hello. My name is Ashley Allred and I teach a self-contained language impaired special education class. I teach grades K-2. Although my class is labeled language impaired, most of my students are on the Autism Spectrum. I teach students on many different levels ranging from completely non-verbal to those with high functionng autism. Due to the various learning strategies that are used in my classroom I am always searching for things to implement verbal skills as well as everyday life skills. Through the use of various technology, I have been able to reinforce skills that have been previously taught as well as introduce new material in such exciting and innovative ways that my students are engaged and motivated to learn. Through these various activites my students have increased their spoken vocabulary, as well as gross motor and fine motor skills.
