I serve as the speech language pathologist for students with speech-language deficits in my kindergarten through eighth grade school. Many of my students struggle with acquiring the basic skills neccessary to read due to their limited phonemic awareness skills. There are many computer based phonemic awareness programs available to assist these children. These programs would offer daily reinforcement of the instruction I provide and keep track of the studentss progresss. This information would also provide me with detailed information about my instruction and what areas I need to review and modify with each student. Overall, improvement in each students phonemic awareness would boost reading and articulation skills. The ability to express yourself clearly in the classroom and read well are the keys to academic success.
