My students consist of 9th-11th graders who are taking Spanish as a second language. These students take foreign language to fulfill a high school and college entrance requirement. Students are learning a new language and culture to expand their understanding of the world and it's many people. A donation of of funds to purchase reading materials would help my students to become more literate in the spanish language. Our current materials do not provide short story reading. Reading is necessary to improve vocabulary comprehension and critical thinking skills. I am confident that increased reading time will result in better acquisition on the Spanish language and success for students.

I teach five theatre arts classes at our comprehensive high school: Theatre Arts I and II, Advanced Theatre, Technical Theatre and Creative Dramatics.
Being unofficially designated as the sports school in our city and having a performing arts high school three miles down the road, funding our program has often been left up to my students and me. We have the basics but what I want to provide for them always seem out of our reach.
My Wish List includes: an effective sound system, a performance venue that will reflect a respect for the arts, realia for my many autistic students, cameras to record their work, gels for our lights, funding for busses to take my advanced kids to competitions, new curtains for our cafeteria stage, and a place to store our costumes and stage props.
I have loved teaching theatre to teens since 1981. What I haven't loved is feeling like we always have to make do with the second best of everything.

Miller (joaquin) High (oh,ohi)
My name is Eileen Roseman and Im a special education teacher at Joaquin Miller High School and I LOVE IT!
By studying countries, the students learn about other cultures. These units are hands on, adapted, and individualized.
Because it may be to difficult for these students to travel, I bring the country to them through music, food, movies, guest speakers, etc...
Im showing the students that it is a small world after all.
Thank you
