I am a chemistry teacher who loves to show all students how chemistry impacts their lives. Students are more responsive when they are shown why chemistry is important to understand.
I try to find as many everyday items to relate chemistry to. Unfortunately this can become expensive. I am also saving to purchase a projector. Most of the topics covered in chemistry are very difficult to visualize. There are many wonderful websites that illustrate these concepts. For instance the following website show the electron orbitals and helps the students understand.
http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/electromag/java/atomicorbitals/index.html
This website shows how an activity series in created at the atomic level.

I hope you will consider helping us.
Thank You

I teach in a suburban town in Brewster, NY. We have just undergone a consolidation and restructuring of schools. I teach second grade in a K-2 building. With budget cuts everywhere, especially in our schools, we are unable to order the necessary supplies needed to enhance our teaching and curriculum. I have a heterogeneous class of 23 students that is made up of a large ELL population. These students are especially needy and many come from a poor socioeconomic background. Some are struggling to make ends meet and can barely put food on their tables. These children do not even have pencils or crayons in their homes. With increased demands from the state on what we should be teaching, it is hard to obtain the books and supplies needed to help make every child a success. With the proper materials, the students at least have a fair starting ground. My students and I would greatly appreciate any donations you would consider for our classroom.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Francine Monti
