I teach in a very low socio economic area of Boynton Beach. My kindergarten students come from various ethnic backgrounds and I also have a wide range of learing abilities in my classroom. The majority of my students have never been to school before so my classroom is their first step into the world of education. I would love for them to have more hands on math and language games, manipulatives, puzzles, letter stamps and stencils, and also oral language development activities. I strongly believe that additional funding for our class would make a huge impact.

Hi, my name is Ms. Cartwright. I teach kindergarten(all subjects) at Rollinfg Green Elementary in Boynton Beach, FL. I have 15-16 students, and one of my main goals is to get students to read as much as possible. I maintain a classroom library of books that students find engaging and interesting. I haunt yard sales and second hand stores for good titles, and I beg parents, former students and teachers to donate books that they liked and have read. It is often difficult to find extra money in my budget for new classroom books. Another goal I have is to make sure my students are all prepared and have the tools they need to succeed. I teach in a Title I school, which means there is a large population of low-income families. It saddens me to see students come to school every day with no backpacks, pencils, paper or other supplies. Most of them come from homes where they cant afford to buy the item on the supply list. So, it is my hope to receive donations in order to make their educational experience the most meaningful one, and I can do this with your help. Thanks in advance!

Our school population is heavily minority and for most of our students, English is not their native language. Most of them only have access to books through our school library. It is very important for me to keep quality books that will draw the interest of our students and encourage them to read. Right now a major need for our school library is to update the nonfiction books, especially in the science, sports, geography, and history sections. These are areas from which the boys usually check out books. We are trying to encourage our boys to be readers and having books on topics they love will help a great deal. I would need those on a variety of levels as we have two nonfiction sections in the library. Also, I would like to replace some of the classic fiction books, such as Dr. Seuss, Beverly Cleary, and other authors. These well loved books are getting worn and tattered and sorely need to be replaced. In addition to replacing some of the more popular titles, I would like to get some current fiction titles both at the primary and intermediate levels. By updating and replacing these books, it would allow me to provide an up-to-date collections for the students to use.

Please look up the schools website for information on the demographics of the school. My students and I would love donations to put towards more instructional tools and materials, including, but not limited to: books for the classroom library, instructional games, and instructional technology devices. We thank you for taking the time and money to donate to the success of our First Grade class!

I appreciate you taking the time to consider adopting my classroom. I will make this short and to the point. I teach two third grade classes in Reading, Science, and Social Studies. My class is an inclusion class of regular ed, ese (exteptional student education) and esol. Students read on varied levels of texts. We are in desperate need of money for classroom library books that students can check out and take home. Also, we like to do a lot of hands on science investigations which the students love, but cant do as many as we would like because the cost of materials can add up quickly. Thank you again for considering adopting our classroom! :0)

My students and I would really appreciate any extra help to make our classroom environment one that is comfortable and positive for all students. We are a title 1 school and struggle every day to obtain support from families due to the language barrier we have with our majority Creole/Spanish speaking population.

This is my second year teaching and I absolutely love it! However, I would love it even more if I could get my hands on more resources for my classroom. I teach at a Title 1 School, a vast majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Last year, I ended up supplying most of the school supplies (paper, pencils, crayons, organization/classroom management tools, etc..) that were needed in my room, as well as all the books in my Classroom Library. I will not be able to do that this year, as I have just started a family of my own. Despite the lack of supplies/resources, I had every single student reading on or above grade level by the end of the 2011-2012 school year. I can only imagine what I can achieve with even more resources. I am in great need of more books for my classroom library. Most of my students start the year reading on or below grade level, and unfortunately I do not have many books on that level. I also lack in variety of books, particularly in the areas of Science and Social Studies. Instead of teaching all subjects this year, we have been departmentalized and I will only be teaching Reading, Science, and Social Studies (Another reason that I need for Science and Social Studies Books!). I would love to be able to do as many hands on Science experiments with my students as possible, but again I lack the equipment. If only teachers had everything they needed at their disposal! It has been a privilege to have such amazing support for the 2012-2013 school year. The majority of my students were able to meet their goals, read on Grade Level, and win the Reading Counts Trophy sixth months in a row, thanks to their hard work and the many generous donations that we have received through this program!! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I have been teaching for 14 years and I am a National Board Certified Teacher. This year, I teach Kindergarten and first grade English Language Learners. Two of my classrooms are Kindergarten, one classroom is First Grade. I pull small groups of children and teach reading in each classroom. Each year, our supply budget is reduced and I will be surprised if we get any money at all next year. I am constantly looking for additional hands-on activities to teach alphabet letters and sight words. As the children learn how to read, it would be helpful to have high interest books for emergent readers. My students are very interested in animals. There is an entire series of emergent readers about a dog that I know my children would love to read! Thank you for thinking of my students and helping them have a brighter future as readers.
