Hi,
I am Mrs. Aisola and I am a third grade teacher at Dr. Martin Luther King Charter School in New Orleans, Louisiana. My school is located in the lower ninth ward which was hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina. Many parents as well as teachers are still repairing their homes, so it is very difficult to purchase school supplies. I would be very greatful to receive any school supplies to enhance the learning in my class. These are the following supplies that are needed: scissors, glue, highlighters, pencils, pencil sharpener, laptop computer, listening centers, dry erase markers, copy paper ( white and multicolor), classroom sets of paper back reading books(third grade level),crayons, markers, assorted felt sheets, pocket chart stands, educational software, computer ink (Dell 1700/1710)and overhead math manipulatives. Thank you very much!!!!!

My school is Dr.Martin L. King Jr. Charter School, which is in the lower ninth ward of New Orleans, La. where Hurricane Katrina hit the hardest. This is a plea for help, after several years much has not improved. The public has been misled by the media because so many schools are still in disrepair and in so much need. Parents cant supply the students with their necessary needs because most of them live below the poverty level and honestly I have done the best that I can. This is a humble plea for help because our students need school uniforms, coats, shoes, socks, school supplies for homework and class work, crayons, pencils, backpacks, tablets, etc. The Kindergarten program would be greatly enhanced with reading, language and math manipulatives, big and shared books, building blocks, puppets, pocket charts, a copier, copy paper, science and social studies activities, reading and listening DVD’s, thematic bulletin board sets and AV equipment. The children have not been able to go on any fieldtrips, because buses and insurance are so expensive. Any amount of funding would be greatly appreciated. These babies are beautiful, loving and eager learn. Please consider our Kindergarten class for adoption, for I have been trying for 3 years. Thank you for your consideration.

I am in the process of trying to implement more technology and cooperative learning in lessons. Therefore, any thing having to do with technology would be of great help. (digital camera, laptops, desktops, printers, INK, video camera, etc.)
I am in need of tennis balls to attach to the chair legs in my classroom so that moving chairs will be a quiet activity. This will create a more comfortable environment for reading.
Our school also has a very high number of students in the free lunch program. By the middle of the year, they are lacking the basic needs to complete school activities (notebooks, binders, paper, pencils, ink pens, poster boards, etc). Any of these items would be appreciated also. I find myself buying basic school supplies for the students.
