Im trying to get enough Scholastic Math magazines(bi-weekly sudscriptions) for my students. The magazines will bring real world math to the classroom with fun easy to read articles. Students have a hard time seeing the math in their envronment and this will help bring math concepts to life. These magazines catch the attention of my students with colorful, engaging features, using their favorite celebrities, different sports related topics, and brainteasers to challenge their minds. The magazines will also show how math is used in many different fun jobs, like disc jockeys, fashion designers, animators, and many more. Most of my students come from low economic households.

Hi I have been teaching Kindergarten for 3 years and am very passionate about my career and the well being of each child that comes through my class. This year I have taken a Pre-K postion and from my experience in Kindergarten I know that the expectations for Kindergarten are changing and evloving much like all the other areas of education. It is in these early years thatchildren decide if they are going love to learn. It is my job to provide them every opportunity to be successful however with recent budget cuts it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with the demands of providing the children the tools they need to learn what is expected of them. Please do not let the budget cuts be the reason our children fall behind SUPPORT our childrens education and make a donation to my classroom!
The donations we recieve will go towards materials that will allow for a hands on learning environment so that these little learners and investigate and learn in a way that is age appropriate. Exploring the new classroom and school environment in Pre-K is vital we are in need of dramatic play items such as play food, career costumes, play kitchen materials. We also need short book shelves & book display shelves for our classroom library to put our books on. Early literacy skills are important and even if they arent ready to read the words they can read the pictures on the pages and we need puppets for them use to read to or to read to a friend. We also need fine motor skill materials such as playdough, lacing and puzzles. Large motor skills are still developing in these little ones and there for we need a painting easle to use to build these skills. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and learn about the needs of our rural school and classroom that is in need of some supplies in order to make our Pre-K Classroom succsessful.
In regards to the need of our elementary school we need a Literacy Library to teach small group reading and literacy skills. In each of our classrooms we pull small groups in order to differentiate to individual students learning styles and needs. Literacy Libraries are used across the state as a resource for teachers to pull leveled readers to teach reading and literacy skills. Books are leveled and organized according to semantics, text style, vocabulary etc. In the upper elementary grades leveled readers and literacy libraries are important to improve fluency & vocabulary, and in the lower elementary grades leveled readers and literacy libraries are important to teach basic phonemic awareness and literacy skills. I have taught on 2 campuses where there was already a literacy libary in place and I could pull books according to my small group levels as well as indiviudal learning plans for individual students. However at the rural small school there is no literacy library in place and no funds to start one so I am asking for help. Thank you for taking the time to make sure the needs of our students are met!
