Riverview Elementary/Middle School is located in Grundy in Southwest Virginia, a part of the Appalachain Mountains. We are in the coal fields. Our students are geographically isolated in a very rural area. Due to the massive layoffs of coal miners and closing of mines our school district has a very limited budget. Our board members provide all the monetary support they can but it is not enough to be able to purchase more than the bare minimum of supplies for my science classroom. We need many things from lab equipment to consumable materials.
My students love life science and I try to do the best I can to keep each student excited and enthusiastic in class and I want to be able to teach them the best ways possible. For example, they really enjoy using hands-on activities and these activities are expensive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
