4th Grade
Mill Creek Elementary School
I teach in a southeast Georgia elementary school where many of the students rarely venture outside of the city limits. In the upcoming school year I will teach at least 54 fourth graders. Many of them come to school without school supplies. Although many of my students may struggle with issues that many adults never face in life, they are very eager to learn regardless of their situation. They enjoy hands-ons opportunities and learning by using materials and games rather than the classic paper and pencil. Although the budget is always an issue, allowing students access to more field trips, curriculum related opportunites and manipulatives will broaden their understanding of tough concepts that they face in school. Donations that will help provide valuable learning experiences are very much needed. Eventhough money is sometimes an issue I am determined to provide the necessary learning opportunities for my students so that they can grow to be successful and responsible adults.
