My class of 25 second graders include 5 hearing impaired students. My students were so excited when they heard about this wonderful program! They helped me make a list of items that we need in our classroom:
2 electric pencil sharpeners
#2 pencils
erasers
Jumbo paper clips
wide rule/primary composition books
My students LOVE reading and asked if we could also get books.
In art, I am using illustrations from Caldecott books to help student identify the elements of art. Students then create an art portfolio. For this wonderful project we could use:
12x18 construction paper (black & white)
12x18 manila or white oak tag
rubber cement/glue
water color and acrylic paintbrushes
tempera point
charcoal pencils
It would be wonderful if my class could obtain an amplification system called Voice Saver. I would use it when I teach and students would use it for their oral presentations. This would be a wonderful tool to use for our end-of-the-year 2nd grade program.

There are 22 third graders in my class. They are a smart, funny, and quirky group of kids. They love learning through hands on projects. A class camera would give them just the tool they need to engage in the world. To document learning, interact with peers, and explore their creativity.

Virtual learning is great but many students need to see and feel math and science. Manipulatives allow them to see the things in different ways. I would like to something similar to ETA's Hand2Mind Primary Math Manipulative Kit that contains materials they would use the whole year such as: Cuisenaire rods, pattern blocks, tape measures, calculator, geoboards, balance, beakers, and much more. It would allow me the opportunity to have stations in the class while I work one on one or small groups.
I would also like to build a small classroom library for students to use in the class or at home as well as having an audio center which includes a cd player with recording capability, and head phones for up to six students. Children should be exposed to multiple types of literature and genre to become well rounded readers and students. Although the school library is available we will be participating in centers in our classroom which will require students to read/view books for at least ten minutes during the rotation. As a new teacher I have limited library resources available for students to use in the classroom.
