Our district would love to move to a one:one system where there is a device for every student in our school to utilize. While we are not there yet, we are shifting towards a BYOD implementation where students can bring in their own devices and utilize them to aid in the learning process. As we venture in this direction, teachers also need to have the tools in their classroom to be mobile as well as evaluate formative assessments on a timely basis for students as well as model technology integration. I am helping teachers in my building be able to do this therefore we are starting off by looking to purchase an ActivSlate which will work with the Communication Arts teachers Promethean board. This will give her the capability of moving around the classroom as she writes on the board or highlights important elements. It will also allow students to be involved in the process and never have to leave their desk. In education, the ability to be mobile plays a large part in classroom management as well as helping all students in the learning process. The purchase of an ActivSlate would allow the communication arts teacher to do those things. We are located in a rural district and her Comm Arts classes range from 7th to 9th grade.
