I am currently teaching in a district that is 85% free and reduced. My classroom has several students that parents are without work and students are very underprivileged. As our students come in many havent gone to pre-school and many parents dont take the time to buy or read to students helping them to succeed in reading. I have a new classroom with very little in my classroom library for resources for my students. I would like to purchase reading picture books to help enrich my students vocabulary and broaden their love of reading. I am only allowed to buy classroom materials (glue, paper, pencils, etc.) with my budget money. I would use this money to build my classroom library with both fiction and non fiction books, themed books, holidays, etc.
