I teach a diverse group of students. Typically, the students I teach do not do very well in the regular classroom and learn better using hands-on approaches. Funding from a donation will help my students understand and make connections between some of the math concepts they learn and how the concepts are used in the real world. Students enrolled in my program love to be doing things - learning by doing things. Funding will help with the purchase of materials needed to have them completing tasks and projects that get them to use their skills and knowledge.

A decade ago, teachers were encouraged to use part of their budget to purchase literature sets to support their reading program. We enthusiastically chose both fiction and nonfiction texts to motivate and support developing readers. Budget cuts have discouraged this practice. Funding to purchase current, recommended titles would be appreciated.
