Please help me fill in the academic gaps and motivate my students to have a desire to learn. I teach a needy group of elementary special needs students with emotional, social and behavioral challenges. They come to my class after having missed much of their education due to hours spent out of the classroom or out of school all together. These absences from direct instruction time have left many gaps in their knowledge base. My students also generally present with a very low self esteem. It is my job to help the students see their worth, learn strategies to be able to stay in school with appropriate behavior and motivate them to want to learn. It takes a wide variety of materials to meet all their individual needs. My students love the technology. I have had four Kindle Fires donated to my class and the students are anxious to use them. I would like to be able to purchace some good books to motivate them to discover a love of reading. My students emotional problems, behavior, inability to sustain attention and low self esteem have hindered their ability to access the curriculum fully. The books on Kindles will be motivating as they help to fill in the academic gaps my students present.
