Visual Art is often overlooked as a crucial part of the curriculum, especially at the elementary level. Right now, our school budget allows for less than 75 cents per student! This means that I am unable to order the necessary supplies each year to take my lessons to the next level. Collecting supplies and recycled materials from home only takes you so far. The children at this school come from various social and cultural backgrounds making it a very diverse community. Many of these students do not have their own colored pencils or paper at home. School is where they are able to try something new and be creative! It would be a wonderful gift to be able to provide these children with richer lessons and opportunities.

Our energetic 4 and 5 year old children enjoy every aspect of student life which focuses on discovery learning. We spend our time experimenting with materials during center time, learning phonological awareness during whole group time, and studying math and science in small groups. Our youngsters are engaged in developing positive relationships and learning to become more independent. Our young students love the responsibility of taking care of themselves and our classroom. They enjoy learning to be more independent, taking care of themselves and our classroom. However because our children are young theyre hard on materials.
Several years ago our classroom materials were new. But now our classroom needs replenishing. We need to replace books, games, manipulatives used in the sand and water tables, as well as writing and art materials. We also need a listening center with earphones, earphone holder, and cd player. Thank you for helping out.
