The IDSC is a new program and the funds we receive will go directly to improving the classroom and adding teaching and learning materials for the special needs of our students. For example, we would like to improve our computer area to include devices for the visually and physically impaired, books that coordinate with the classroom curriculum and learning activities for younger children.

The preschool classroom I teach in is an integrated preschool and 50% of the students are identified with special needs. Currently the needs are heavy with autistic children. This requires many manipulatives and frequent use of high level and low level activities. The children have splinter skills and there is a need to give small work spaces for their needs. There are also compulsive behaviors, so it is imperative to have at least 2 sets of skill building items so as to work with more than one child and/or if there is a compulsive need and should something get lost, the progress will continue without interruption. I appreciate you taking the time to think about adopting our classroom. We have such great learners and strive to give them quality programming!

Thank you for supporting our learning. Many of my students families are struggling financially right now and do not have funds for school supplies, snacks or project /art materials or field trips. Your donation helps us to provide these opportunities to everyone in our class. It means a lot to us to be able to enrich our lessons with these supplies.

Kindergarten children love to create! The process is more important than the product, hence we go through lots of paint, paper, tape, glue sticks, markers, and crayons. Kindergarten children are curious about everything around them and we try to provide classrooms rich in experiential learning and exploration. We appreciate your donations so that we can continue to give our children quality learning experiences.

We have a diverse level of learners in our classroom. We need more literacy center small group activities. These activities are engaging and build on their reading skills. By having these materials I can better meet the needs of the multiple learners in my classroom. Education is a journey not a race. It takes a community to educate a child. Thank you for your support.

We are a busy class! Full of diversity! We are from Nantucket, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, El Salvador, Ireland and various places of the United States. We love to read and we are very creative. Dr. Suess is one of our favorite authors! Thank you so much for your interest in our classroom! We have been working on an interactive white board used to facilitate the use of technology in the classroom. Unfortunately, we have to sign up to use one and travel to it when we would like to use it. This board and projector has many uses and can be put to use with all curriculum in the classroom. In my opinion, ENO and SMART boards should be in place in every classroom. These would replace chalk boards and overhead projectors in classrooms, used when we did not have the advantage of using technology. Please donate to my ENO board fund so that we may get one for our classroom. Every little bit counts!! Thanks so much!!! Muchas Gracias!

I teach an all inclusive fifth grade class. The basic needs of my kids are paper, pencils, writing supplies, ink cartridges for classroom printers and grade level books/novels for reading groups. Any other basic supplies such as erasers, writing journals, white-board markers and chalk would be greatly appreciated. Hardware things like coat hooks, extension chords, glue-guns and basic hand tools (hammers and screwdrivers) are useful as well.

This being my 4th year teaching, I find I am still discovering the many classroom needs with each new group of incoming students. Supplies, learning resources and materials are general necessities. There are a variety of students within our school system who have a variety of needs. Any additional funding would make an impact on the learning environment for the students. It is important to provide students with a fun and safe place to learn!

I work with first graders primarily to support their reading. Funding would make an impact for these children, allowing for more reading books at various levels and resources to reinforce reading skills. I work with children in Reading Recovery and in a small group intervention setting. We are presently trained in LLI, which serves as a TIER 1 or 2 in RTI.

I love to incorporate drama and art into my class curriculum, so paints, costumes,old-fashion wigs, clay and paper for scenery are always helpful. Consumable materials are essential for children to manipulate, construct, derive meaning and learn. Im excited to incorporate Responsive Classrooms games and activities to promote classroom community. I will need supplies to support these activities and make it an exciting place to participate with peers. Heres to another great school year!!!!

I teach reading and writing skills to students in second and third grade. The program would benefit from additional multiple copies of high-interest books for small reading groups. We can also use basic office and student supplies for the students during reading and writing blocks. With additional funding, additional games, activities and books can be purchased to improve student learning.

New school year, new beginnings! After 13 years in the 4th grade, I am beginning a new adventure in Grade 2! While Im looking forward to all of the exciting times this year will bring, it is amazing to be a new teacher again. Second graders are creative, curious, and full of energy. Reading and writing remains at the forefront of our work together. Our second graders benefit from a wide variety of books: fiction, non-fiction, series, favorite authors, across a wide span of levels. We hope our writing center will be stocked with plenty of notebooks, paper, pencils, markers, pens, clips, and highlighters to guide us to our personal best. STEM studies will be playing more of a role as well as we investigate science, engineering and their relationship with mathematics. Lots of manipulatives and hands-on experiences will help us make this a year of fun and discovery. Thank you for your support!

Having moved from a middle school reading position to elementary special education, I find that many of the materials that I have acquired over the years are not appropriate for the younger children I now teach. With current budgetary cuts, money available for teacher supplies and materials are limited. I often purchase needed materials and supplies out of my own pocket. Unfortunately I don’t have the extra money this year to do so. Materials such as pencils, dry erase markers, colored markers, colored pencils and erasers, are among supplies needed. Although I ask students to bring in 1 ½ inch three ring binders with dividers for their reading notebooks, many cannot afford to do this. The notebooks that I have been recycling over the years are beginning to fall apart. My Wilson Student Readers are also falling apart and in need of replacement. There are wonderful new materials available through Wilson that would enhance my work with the younger population that I now service.

Kindergartners use many consumable products such as glue sticks, construction paper, tape, glitter, staples, and all types of art supplies. I find that we often run low on these supplies by mid year. Other items such as paper plates, Purrell sanitizer, paper cups, Ziploc bags are always handy as well.
