This is my second year teaching in New Bedford and first year teaching First Grade. Last year I taught Kindergarten. I am very limited on math manipulatives and center activities for the students to use independently, while I am engaged in small groups. I try to make what I can but it is really time consuming. Being the first time teaching First Grade, my focus is on lesson planning, learning the standards for first grade and preparing myself for the new school year as well as on the students. Your help with donations will promote the necessary literacy and math skills the students need to enhance their learning. Thank you for you time and donations.

I feel that it is important for students to be in-tune with the current events in science. I have not been able to fund the purchase of a classroom set of Science World magazines, that allow the students to read the new innovations and current science events. I am also trying to start a school-wide composting project and winter greenhouse garden program. One would feed the other. The composting would feed the plants with fresh fertile soil for planting new edibles for our school cafeteria and the local food pantry. We have over 900 students in our school and all 900 would be impacted from this project. I see no disadvantages in beginning this project, only many advantages. The school community would benefit in many ways. It would allow students the opportunity to be part of a service-learning project, on
