Our school has had limited supplies and funding for several years. First graders love to participate in hands-on activities while learning. My goal is to use several ways of teaching to reach all students and I need supplies for this purpose. All students learn differently so I need to teach to all multiple intelligences.

Due to Michigans huge financial crisis school districts have taken budget cuts for several years in a row. My school has reduced staff members causing class sizes to rise. Unfortunately we also are also receiving less money to purchase supplies. As you can see, having more students but less supply money puts a financial burden on me and the parents of my district. I teach in a rural area with a high poverty level, so many of the students can not afford to purchase the essential school supplies on their own. I hope that the Adopt a Classroom program will help ease the financial burden on my students and their families. Thanks, Bo Fletcher
