The scholars in my class are talkative, excited, and playful. Many are under more stress then any child should ever have to face. Over 90% of our school’s students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Many are in transition (which is a nice way of saying homeless), have parents who work multiple jobs, help with caring for younger siblings and cousins, or worry about things that kids should not have to. Our families are great. They love and support their children. They answer when we call, come to conferences, and do their best to ensure that their children complete their homework. But because of the financial constraints on both our school and our families we are short on both basic supplies and the extras that make learning more fun. Please consider helping our kids out, even small amounts add up!
