2nd Grade
International Spanish Language Acad
!Hola! I teach second graders at ISLA, a Spanish immersion, International Baccalaureate school. At my school we work hard to foster a strong community with an international perspective. We focus a lot on the attributes of the IB learner profile, which help us be good world citizens. We strive to be open-minded, inquirers, thinkers, reflective, balanced, risk takers, knowledgeable, principled, caring, and good communicators.
In second grade we focus a lot on science and engineering as well as writing narrative stories and letters. We are working on being good communicators in math. We have units that include the topics of plants, bridges, balance and motion, economic choices, friendship, climate and weather, and maps. We love having experts come in to talk to us in person and hopefully someday via Skype or other technology.
ISLA is a lovely public charter school. Small class sizes are very important to us, so no class has more than 25 students. I love the small class size in spite of the fact that it limits our funding from the government. Because of this lower level of funding we are always looking for other ways to meet our needs and wants. Thank you so much for considering adopting our class! !Muchisimas gracias!
