My classroom is a Title I class with students from a low economic background. These students reading levels are very low. These students in my classroom do not have money to purchase books to read or opportunities to go the public library to check out books. Some students don`t have the opportunity to check out a book from the school library because their parents don`t sign for him/her to check out a book. The reason that some parents don`t sign for for their child to check out a book is that they don`t have the money to pay for the book if their child loses it. Therefore, I need books for my classroom library to help students improve their reading fluency. Additional funding would help purchase books for the classroom library. This would give all students an opportunity to choose books to read. I think having our own classroon library filled with a varity of different level books will encourage students to read more. Reading more will help students read more fluently.
