We are a title 1 school located in rural Missouri south of Kansas City. My classroom is made up of students with multiple learning disabilities that come from low income families. My subject of focus is math in which I try to incorporate technology into the curriculum. Tablets, ipads, promethean boards, and educational games are great tools for students that are tactile and visual learners. Due to funding restraints, we are behind in most districts with equipping our students with ipads or tablets. My wish and goal for my classroom is for every student I have to be able to access a tablet or ipad in my classroom. My other goal and wish is tool find math games that follow up with the instruction that was given. These games can be used for enrichment, assessing, and give another way for students to understand a topic that is taught. Additional funding to our classroom would help our students gain new knowledge of how to use these tools, realize that learning can be fun, and improve test scores. After all students are the future of our country so let’s prepare them.

I am working on creating a library that will help older students that are struggling readers. I am looking for resources that I can implement in my Response to Intervention program. This would include books, charts for data collection, and progress monitoring materials. I am always looking for new ways to help every student become successful and be life long readers.

I teach students with special needs (K-6). I need to strengthen their vision (not acuity) to help them become better readers, writers, and mathematicians. I would love to be able to purchase items to help increase their visual perceptual skills, eye movement, body motor planning, and eye-hand coordination.

After nine years at home being a mom, I am returning to the classroom. I taught five years prior to staying at home with my children. Teaching has always been a passion of mine. Children have always been a passion of mine. Adrian School District is a small district in which we have less than 800 students in grades pre-school to 12th grade. We have a very supportive community though a low income community. Returning to a classroom just down the hall from where I taught when I left teaching I was amazed to see the same classroom computer in each room that were there 9 years ago. These boxey, ancient looking, bulky computers that were probably 10 years old then. We have smartboards that the school received grants to purchase but with those great new devices we have a clunky old computer to run it from. I would love to have the use of a laptop for my students and myself for many reasons. The flexibility of moving it around the room a little more, the less bulk, updated and faster programs, etc. I would love to be able to offer updated technology in my classroom. I have also considered an IPAD, new technology to even myself though researching technology in the classroom it seems there are so many positive things about bringing these IPADs into the classroom for teacher and students. I aim to use funds approved to infuse technology by updated computer or IPAD(s) into my classroom to enhance the inquiry process and make students better able to inquire, gather and evaluate information, create work to represent their learning, and share it with others. A goal would be to expand students’ knowledge about how they can use technology to enhance their learning and provide updated technology for me to use as a teacher.
