I teach kindergarten in a low income community in a small town in Kansas. My classroom makeup is a little bit of everything and everybody. My goal as an educator has always been to teach my students how to be better people inside and outside of the classroom. With the wide range of students and their backgrounds it makes it very difficult to keep everyone on the same page when it comes to the coolest supplies, funnest pencil boxes, projects, etc. With ever changing education standards and with the economic changes around us it is often hard for my students and their parents to purchase all the basic supplies needed meaning I am filling in the gaps with supplies my own family has purchased. If I need something more specific for a certain project I usually spend my own money on it as well. The list of needed items changes frequently but it would be a blessing not to have to worry about basic supplies, or even some of the not so basic supplies. I do not mind purchasing the items myself if need be and I will do anything to make sure my students keep a smile on their face and understand that they are loved and appreciated no matter what. Any help would be greatly appreciated and my students and I would be forever grateful.
