At Lakeshore we have wonderful students who try hard but struggle with academics for a variety of reasons. We have a high population of families in the low economic range. I usually buy extra school supplies in the summer to supplement for any students that need them during the year. I also provide extra snacks (fruit snacks, etc.) each day for students that can't afford to bring them from home. I want students not to have to worry about school supplies or food so they can concentrate on participating with their classmates during the school day. With all the budget cuts I also purchase most of my classroom paperbacks for pleasure reading, Avery labels (for files, name tags, etc., and colored file folders for organization of student centers. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
