My class just finished reading My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George. The kids are very interested in the outdoors. We will be doing a unit on the Adirondacks starting in December and I would like to develop a library of books about the Adirondacks. I would also like to have some furs of local animals so we can begin to study the local environment and how they are all an important part of the local food chain. I have developed a small project that was very successful in the past. We held "A Night in the Adirondacks" a few years back and had all 46 families of the students I taught science to attend. We are located about 45 minutes from the Blue Line, which is the border line of the Adirondack Park. Over half of the kids have never been to the Park. In order to share this spectacular resource with my students, I need to try to bring the Park to my classroom. Any resources on the Adirondacks would be helpful. Thanks for your time, Todd.

As a second grade teacher, basic classroom supplies are a must. My district is full of children in need (poverty). These children often do not come with the standard materials to start off the school year. They get so excited when I provide them with a new box of crayons or a new pencil. Due to budget cuts this year, I was not able to receive any money from my district to requisition these materials. Any donation would be greatly appreciated by the children in my classroom. They would gain confidence and not feel singled out by not having the necessary supplies. It would definitely bring a smile to their faces and mine!! Thank you.
