Russia Elementary School
We are a small school in western Ohio. Our students are highly motivated and I am always looking for more ways to challenge them. I am looking for ways to create hands on learning experieces and to further integrate technology into the course of study for reading/language arts and social studies. I have tossed around several ideas that just need funding from obtaining clicker systems or slates to go with our smartboards, to building a school store that the fifth and sixth graders could use to get hands on experience with the economics units they learn (while simultaneously earning funds to use for a couple of their larger trips that they take) and beginning a collection of artifacts to use while teaching American History. We did obtain a rental of materials from the Underground Railraod Freedom Center last year that allowed the students to get to actually see and feel time period items such as manacles, the type of clothing worn and art work depicting slave plantations.
