I am requesting any amount of funds for the Physical Education program at Vern Patrick Elementary School in Redmond, Oregon. Although my "wish list" is approximately $4000, I would be grateful for any amount that could be contributed. My school district has suffered greatly financially and my elementary school is a lower income school in the district. It has become clear to me that many of my students will never get the opportunity to play organized sports or have experiences playing anything besides, basketball or soccer with their siblings. I would love the opportunity to show our students other activities that they may never get the experience of playing, such as volleyball, lacrosse, hockey, badminton, pickle ball, and general fitness activities using jump ropes and hula hoops. I am also responsible for providing students with recess equipment which I do not have a budget for; therefore some of the funds would be used for providing playground balls and other recess equipment. My school does have the privilege of being a community school which means we provide many after school opportunities for children whose families cannot afford other means of care until their workday is done. Much of the equipment would also be used for these after school programs as well. I am not asking for the whole "wish list" to be met, but anything would be a start in helping my students experience so much more of what is available to them and help them to find activities that they will love and enjoy for their lifetimes.
