As the librarian at Gotwals Elementary School, I see all of the students each week for class and to check out library books. The books in the library are very dated,and many are in bad condition. I have not received any budget money in the past four years to purchase books for the library. Literacy and reading are extremely important for the success of these children and yet the book choices in the library are very limited. Teachers are also asking for various books to use in the classrooms and I don't have the resources they need. Any funds donated would be used to purchase hard cover, quality books to be used by the students. This is a school where most of the students come from low income homes, many do not speak English and they do not have reading material at home. The library provides their reading material and many of our books are outdated. Would you be enticed to read something falling apart and out of date?
