2nd Grade
Gotwals Elementary School
I teach in an urban like Title 1 school. 98% of our population is free or reduced lunch; about 65% are ELL students; we have two sheters that feed into our school. My students are adorable and love to learn! Their families try to help, but are not always financially able. Our distict has lost a lot of funding with the changes made in PA these past years. Our school goes through supplies quickly; many of our families are not able to send school supplies for their children. The school does not have the money to buy little things, such as new white boards on wheels, for our classes. There are many things that I supply for my room, but dont have the money to buy the bigger things. I have a lending library in my room, because many of the students dont have books at home for Reading practice. I could use some new books for that. Also, the portable tape recorders are getting old and some have broken; many of my students learn by listening to books on tape. I, also, like to send a few home with my non-readers and ELL students. I am sure that there are some games that would help my students understand and practice learned concepts.
