My students are from a very small city in northern South Carolina. Our school has a focus of literacy and technology. The new common core standards are being implemented this year and require teachers to find innovative ways to teach literacy and use technology. I am very excited since that is what our school is all about. My plan is to use more literacy in all of the subjects I teach. In order to do this donations are needed to buy the books. If you feel called to give to our classroom, your donation would be greatly appreciated and would go to students who are truly deserving. Thank you for your time and consideration!

Chester Park Center of Literacy Through Technology (COLT) is a Title I school with over 90% of students receiving free and reduced lunch. Many students cannot afford the basic items for school that other children take for granted such as paper, notebooks, folders, and pens. Basic items like pencils, erasers, and crayons are in high demand in our classroom. Although we receive funds for many high tech items such as computers and interactive white boards, students still need small items like tissue boxes and antibacterial lotion. Chester County does not impose back-to-school lists upon its parents at the beginning of each school year; therefore, it is up to the teachers to find what they need through creative means. Often we use dry erase markers with small group activities in order to reduce paper use. We reuse and recycle everything we can to save money. My classroom library needs books for girls. We also need a new rug for reading circle and morning meetings. These student

Chester Center of Literacy Through Technology is a Title I school with over 90% of the students eating free or reduced lunch. Many families cannot afford to purchase what others would think of as basic items such as pencils, crayons, notebooks, papers, and folders. The school district does not impose a materials checklist for students either; therefore, it is up to the teachers to find alternative means to acquiring needed items for the classroom. These students have a willingness to learn no matter what and it is amazing to see what they can do with so little. Imagine what they could do with more hands-on manipulatives and a more comfortable learning environment! We are in dire need of a classroom rug and books to support our classroom library (especially books for girls!). Please consider helping these children build a successful future.

My students are excited about learning! They come to school eager to learn. Because of their exceptional need, they are below their peers in reading, written expression, and math. I have been teaching at the middle school level for 8 years and this is my first year as an elementary teacher. My students would benefit from having index cards, notebooks, binders, highlighters, pencils, Chart paper,a more appealing classroom library. My students struggling with reading because they have a limited vocabulary, therefore I encourage them to write words in index cards. Thanks!

Saluda Trail Middle School
My name is Julisa White and I teach 7th grade Language Arts. Many of my students are reading below grade level and seem to have lost the desire to read. If adopted, I would establish a better classroom library. I would purchase high-interest books, current magazines and other reading materials.
