Our district has spent the past few years working on a solid curriculum to fit the Common Core Standards, yet in my classroom, there is not much choice for reading. I have students who read at a much higher level than the books that are available to them, yet they are unable to be fully challenged and pushed to be their best. We need to be able to purchase a large quantity of new books in order to encourage growth in the students' reading skills. I also hope to use modern and relevant literature alongside the typical canon, so we need those resources as well.
