Imagine trying to learn about 21st century technology while working with early 20th century facilities. It does not provide the best atmosphere for my biology students. My school is in an urban high needs district and does not have adequate resources for my students that dream of going to college. My students are wonderful, creative people that despite their situation have a positive attitude in life. The majority live in poverty and qualify for free lunches. They do not have background and exposure to best serve them when taking the NYS Regents exams. For the last two years, I was able to provide them with a science enrichment day at Cornell University. It was amazing to see my students working in world class laboratories. They loved it and I believe it inspired some to pursue their interest in science. However without the technology and supplies in my classroom, I fear that I cannot give them the best opportunities. With supplies that are donated, I plan to make a difference in my students lives. Please help me accomplish this.
