I am a Special Education Teacher in a very high needs area, at a title 1 school. I usually teach a class that is mixed with special education and general education students. My students have learning and behavior issue that are both genetic and stem from the drug abuse a alcoholism of their parents. Most students are very poor and come from a long line of people who have struggled with school. My schools is at a $500,000 budget deficit. Due to this deficit, we have limited instructional tools and limited technology. Each year I spend almost $500 dollars making copies at office max to supplement the missing information. Through gaining supplies, I will be able to help my students meet their academic and social emotional goals. Ultimately I want to mold the minds of the future and help these students to become positive and productive additions to their community and pave the way for their children to be successful.
